With more than 30 local professionals trained to operate unmanned aerial vehicles, Townsville is perfectly poised to lead the way in providing cutting-edge resources to police, according to a drone expert.
NQ UAV chief pilot Ashley Walker said his business was ready to show the authorities the potential benefits of drones to local policing.
“We manage quite a number of pilots who are fully licenced and we’ve reached out to the Queensland Police Service already,” he said.
“We’re right here in Townsville if they want to at least trial the idea. All the exemptions and agreements are in place.”
