Drones to deliver medical supplies as angels of mercy

World-renowned brain surgeon Charlie Teo has been unveiled as the ambassador for a newly formed consortium of aviation, ­insurance and legal firms that has concocted a project to fly critical medical supplies — including ­organs, blood and urgent ­biopsy samples — to patients in ­remote areas and heavily congested city centres.

The so-called Angel Drone project will be undertaken by the newly formed Australian RPAS Consortium, which has received the blessings of the aviation regul­ator to conduct a trial in rural NSW later this year to fly a ­remotely piloted aircraft with an incubator capable of carrying blood plasma.
