Under conventional wisdom, start-ups always court venture capital companies, looking for investment for future growth. Yet for DJI Innovations, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) autopilot system developer headquartered in Shenzhen, that is not the case.
According to the Chinese-language Securities Times, many Chinese venture capitalists tried to build a relationship with DJI Innovations four years ago. The report said that to buy a stake in the Shenzhen startup, venture capital firms had even sent representatives to accompany executives from DJI Innovations on hiking and fishing trips. Their actions were in vain, however, and many are still trying to get in on what they see as a great opportunity.
