Boeing’s Phantom Eye UAS promoted to experimental status

Boeing Phantom Eye hydrogen-fueled, high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft system (UAS).Boeing (St. Louis, Mo., USA) reports that its composites-intensive Phantom Eye UAS was promoted to experimental status by the U.S. Air Force 412th Operations Group based on the recommendation of officials at NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center. The liquid hydrogen­-fueled, high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) unmanned aircraft system (UAS) has earned experimental status after completing just six successful test flights.

As an experimental aircraft operating within the U.S. Air Force Test Center, it can now depart protected air space over Edwards AFB, Calif., USA, for a test range several miles away to complete its endurance and altitude testing.
